Presentation Ideas Progression of Skills and Understanding
Presentations to talk alongside (The lighter top half of the planning suits this activity perfectly)
Possible Ideas
School Trip Collect photos from a school trip. Share them with your class in a shared area. Create a simple presentation to describe your trip. You could give it a speaking and listening focus.
Retelling a story literacy focus using PowerPoint to map out the main structure of narrative and then recount it to their peers.

Characterisation of a good presentation to talk alongside
Simple slides outline a topic without stating everything on the slide
Simple slide transitions or none at all
Titles are bold and easy to read at the back of a classroom
Colours of text and background are complementary and help the reader to read the text
Pictures are relevant and not too small
Pupils speak clearly and add details not on their slide
Pupils occasionally turn and face their audience and make eye contact
Silent full presentations (The darker background bottom half of the planning suits this activity better)
Possible Ideas
Mummification process in Egyptian history
Roman army weapons and tactics in History
3D shapes and their properties in Maths
Features of your local area in geography
Parts of a church in RE
5 Symbols of Sikhism in RE
Famous artist and their art work
Characterisation of a silent full presentation
As this is primarily a presentation to be viewed on a computer screen not presented to an audience it can be busier than a presentation to talk alongside
Titles are bold and easy to read at the back of a classroom
Colours of text and background are complementary and help the reader to read the text
It would follow a consistent theme
It might have a contents slide at the start
It might include supporting video or audio where relevant
It might have consistent slide transitions and animations that support main elements or points made
Narrated automated presentation (The darker background bottom half of the planning suits this activity better)
Most of the ideas above can be adapted to include a narration
Create an advert with a persuasive writing focus
Characterisation of a narrated automated presentation
All of the characterisations described in a silent full presentation
A clear narration voice
Enough time to read the slides but not too much time so that the viewer gets bored
Progression of skills and activities
I recommend that pupils have experience of creating all of these three types of presentation. It may be that you start with a silent presentation and then adapt it to include a narration if pupils are sufficiently confident to cope with this.
